Recovery Community Organization Activities

Recovery Community Organizations (RCOs) increase the visibility and influence of the recovery community by engaging in activities that fall within three core areas.

Policy and Advocacy

  • Advance recovery-focused public policy
  • Elevate the voice of people in recovery and their allies

Recovery-Focused Community Education & Outreach

  • Promote a positive vision of recovery
  • Increase public understanding and reduce stigma

Peer Recovery Support Services

  • Provide non-clinical, peer-based recovery supports
  • Center lived experience, connection, and mutual support

Together, these activities reflect how RCOs promote recovery, strengthen communities, and deliver non-clinical services grounded in lived experience.
