Recovery Community Organizations (RCOs) increase the visibility and influence of the recovery community by engaging in activities that fall within three core areas.
Policy and Advocacy
- Advance recovery-focused public policy
- Elevate the voice of people in recovery and their allies
Recovery-Focused Community Education & Outreach
- Promote a positive vision of recovery
- Increase public understanding and reduce stigma
Peer Recovery Support Services
- Provide non-clinical, peer-based recovery supports
- Center lived experience, connection, and mutual support
Together, these activities reflect how RCOs promote recovery, strengthen communities, and deliver non-clinical services grounded in lived experience.
