This course is about what your organization knows: how it captures information about the work it does, and what it does with what it finds.

Service tracking has a reputation as paperwork, something staff get to at the end of the day because a funder requires it. That framing is expensive. Data collected as an afterthought is data you cannot trust, and data you cannot trust will not tell you anything useful about the community you serve or carry any weight with the people deciding whether to fund you.

This course starts with integrating service tracking into daily operations rather than bolting it on afterward, then moves into analytics: turning what you collect into something that actually answers a question. From there we get into data regulations and the protections that come with holding sensitive information about people in recovery, and close with how to evaluate and implement the systems that hold all of it.

Done well, service tracking stops being a reporting burden and becomes the evidence base for everything that follows, including program evaluation and strategic planning. Take the pre-test before you begin. You will answer the same questions again in the post-test at the end.
