Welcome!
This course is an introduction to Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) and is part of a five-part Introductory Webinar Series designed to provide a foundational understanding of the concepts that shape the work of Recovery Community Organizations (RCOs) and their role within the broader recovery ecosystem.
Community-Based Organizations play a vital role in supporting individuals, families, and communities by responding to local needs with culturally responsive, community-driven solutions. Often rooted in trust and lived experience, CBOs serve as connectors, linking people to services, fostering belonging, and strengthening community well-being.
This course explores what defines a Community-Based Organization, how CBOs operate within broader systems of care, and the unique strengths they bring to recovery-oriented and community-centered work. Participants will examine the roles CBOs play across health, social support, advocacy, and equity, and reflect on how these organizations contribute to sustainable, community-led change.
