RCO National Standards provide a shared framework that guides Recovery Community Organizations in operating with transparency, accountability, and consistency. The standards clarify the RCO role within the recovery ecosystem and continuum of care, helping partners, funders, and communities understand what RCOs do and what distinguishes them as recovery-led organizations.
By aligning their operations with the National Standards, RCOs build credible, adaptable, and sustainable systems that respond to community needs while maintaining fidelity to the RCO model. Over time, this consistency strengthens trust, reinforces partnerships, and supports long-term impact.
Within this framework, RCOs mobilize resources inside and outside the recovery community through strategic action in three core activity areas:
Together, these activities increase the prevalence and quality of long-term recovery for individuals and families while strengthening communities and advancing the broader Recovery Movement.
